Treatment With VIDAZA
VIDAZA was the first drug approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of MDS (myelodysplastic syndromes), a group of diseases that affect the bone marrow and blood.
MDS can cause additional health problems. It is important to discuss the risks of these problems, or complications, with your treatment team. Report serious complications — like bleeding and infections — to them right away. Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic to treat an infection. You should also ask your treatment team if you have a risk of developing leukemia.
There are multiple ways of classifying MDS. One classification system divides MDS into 5 groups called subtypes. VIDAZA is approved to treat all 5 MDS subtypes, and helps manage symptoms and actively treat the disease. Your doctor can explain which subtype of MDS you or the person you care for may have.
